Win tickets to a comedy riot!

Cara Roberts and Marion Loudon in The Bamboozled Break-in, a new stage comedy headed for Durban’s Seabrooke’s Theatre for three performances soon.

……BILLY SUTER……

AN ORIGINAL, boisterous stage comedy, The Bamboozled Break-In, teaming Durban actresses Cara Roberts and Marion Loudon, will be presented at Durban’s Seabrooke’s Theatre at Durban High School at 6.30pm on Friday, October 30, and noon and 6.30pm on Saturday, October 31.

This 80-minute outpouring of fun, which runs without an interval, marks the debut production by AfriArtsConnect.

The Bamboozled Break-in is directed by AfriArtsConnect’s Ilana van den Berg, who also translated Dubbeldief by Jacoben Lüneburg and adapted it into this new English production.

The play revolves around two burglars, one house and one very inconvenient coincidence. Loudon plays Vivian, a seasoned professional with years of experience and a reputation for getting away clean. Roberts portrays Zanie, a first-time thief whose approach is considerably less polished.

When their carefully planned heists collide, chaos erupts. With tempers flaring and plans falling apart, the two must decide if they can trust each other. In this high-energy comedy, working together may be the only way out. Their unexpected encounter turns a straightforward burglary into a night of confusion, comic misunderstandings, physical chaos and revelations.

The production is recommended for audiences aged nine and above. Tickets cost R140 and may be booked via Webtickets.

Cara Roberts is an award-winning South African actress whose work spans theatre, television and film. Known for her emotional honesty, versatility and dynamic stage presence, she has established herself as one of the country’s exciting contemporary performers, appearing in acclaimed productions across South Africa while steadily building an international screen career. Her successes include The King of Broken Things, Sylvia and Charlotte’s Web.

Marion Loudon is a Durban-based singer, actress and educator with an extensive career in South African theatre. A graduate of Natal Technikon’s drama programme, she has been performing professionally for many years, with a particular passion for singing, musical theatre, comedy and cabaret. She often appears as a guest vocalist with Durban band The Reals, with whom she is probably most noted for Woodstock and The Chain: Fleetwood Mac tribute shows.

AfriArtsConnect, says Ilana van den Berg, is a South African arts platform created to connect artists, creatives, organisations, supporters and opportunities across the creative ecosystem. The purpose is simple: creating opportunities for artists and creatives to create, work, earn and grow.

“Supporting the arts is more than applause – it is about creating the conditions for sustainable creative careers that strengthen communities and our cultural landscape,” she says.
