……BILLY SUTER……

THE Durban City Orchestra presents its second concert series of the year soon – following on from the successful homage to music from film and musical theatre – with a second programme of themes from popular stage and screen productions.

This will be performed throughout Women’s Month – at Durban North’s Milkwood Theatre at 3.30pm on Sunday, August 16; at Kloof’s St Agnes at 3.30pm on Sunday, August 23; and at Musgrave’s St Thomas at 3pm on Sunday, August 30.

Great news is that SoSuterBill has four tickets to give away to any one of these three performances. See competition entries at the end of this post – and be sure to indicate which performance you would prefer to attend should you be chosen as the winner of the four complimentary tickets.

The Durban City Orchestra, one of the longest running orchestras in the country, has a complement of 35 active members who get together weekly. The orchestra includes two accomplished professional musicians in Charl van der Merwe as Resident Conductor and Jitske Brien as Concert Master.

Among programme items are Disney at the Movies and popular pieces from Forrest Gump, the Harry Potter franchise, Hook, How to Train your Dragon, Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Caribbean and Superman.

The Milkwood Theatre is at Danville Girls’ High School, 21 Middlebrook Avenue, Virginia, Durban North. Parking is at the Newport Avenue gate (between Astro and the church). The Junction @ St Agnes Anglican Church is at 53 Abelia Road in Kloof, and parking is on site. St Thomas Anglican Church is at 190 St Thomas Lane, Musgrave.

Tickets for the concerts, sponsored by Mzansi Philharmonic, can be bought via Quicket or at the respective venues.
