JONATHAN Roxmouth, fresh from overseas tours playing the lead role in Phantom of the Opera, is back in South Africa and will present a new show, My Favourite Broadway, at Johannesburg’s Teatro Theatre, Montcasino, soon.

And great news is that SoSuterBill has four tickets to give away to one lucky person – to attend the 7.30pm, Friday, August 1, performance. See the end of this post for competition entry details.

Presented by Howard Events, My Favourite Broadway will feature singer-pianist Roxmouth accompanied by the newly formed, 32-piece, Egoli Symphonic Orchestra, under the baton of Adam Howard. Performances are over two consecutive weekends: Friday, July 25, to Sunday, July 27; and again from Friday, August 1, to Sunday, August 3.

As part of the world tour of Phantom of The Opera, Roxmouth made history as the youngest English-speaking Phantom to date, and won the Philippines’ Broadway World Award for his performance. As part of both the 2012 and 2019 World Tour, Phantom of the Opera also took him to the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Israel, Dubai, South Korea and Taiwan.

Adam Howard is excited to be working with Roxmouth again: “For me, the proudest moment is seeing people respond not just to the music, but to the message: that collaboration, when done with intention and heart, can transcend expectation. We’ve had the privilege of working alongside Jonathan for more than a decade, producing his albums, promoting his concert performances locally, and sharing the stage in front of thousands. Our admiration for him is boundless.”

 My Favourite Broadway will feature new technology created by L-Acoustics’ L-ISA technology, which traditional audio systems simply cannot match. Unlike traditional stereo systems that deliver sound from just two directions, L-ISA surrounds the audience with multiple sound sources, allowing them to feel as if they are literally inside the music.

The show takes audiences from the haunting passion of The Phantom of the Opera to songs from Les Misérables, Evita, My Fair Lady,  Singin’ in the Rain, Gypsy, Funny Girl, Oliver and beyond.

Says Roxmouth: “This year feels like a significant homecoming – first My Favourite Broadway, then playing Billy Flynn in Chicago – The Musica,l from the end of August until early November.

“I have missed the South African audience very much – it’s a special relationship that I am looking forward to rekindling. And to perform with maestro Adam Howard and the Egoli Symphonic Orchestra really elevates these concerts to a once-in-a-lifetime experience!”

The production runs about two hours, including an interval. Ticket prices range from R240 to R490, and booking is via Webtickets.
