Today also marks the birthday of INXS singer Michael Hutchence, who died in November 1997; while Ann Miller, the leggy tap dancer who starred in Sugar Babies on Broadway and appeared in the films Kiss Me, Kate and On the Town, died on this day in 2004. She was 80.

Today also marks the birthdays of screen stars Diane Lane (52), Linda Blair (58), John Hurt (77) and Balthazar Getty (42), while former Guns ’N Roses drummer Steve Adler turns 52 and US rapper Silento (who had a hit with Watch Me) turns 19.

This week in 1982, Joe Dolan was enjoying his second and final week crowning South Africa’s Springbok Radio Top 20. The song – It’s You, It’s You, It’s You – marked his sixth and final hit in South Africa. Just saying…
