Film director Brad Bird turns 65 today, while movie director Pedro Almodavar turns 73 and actress Nia Vardalos (pictured), of My Big Fat Greek Wedding fame, turns 60. Curt Smith, bassist with Tears For Fears, turns 61 today.

It was on this day in 1968, reports Playbill, that New York’s Julliard opened its four-year programme of the drama division, the first students including Kevin Kline and Patti LuPone, and subsequent students including Christoper Reeve, William Hurt and Kevin Spacey.

It was on this day in 1987 that legendary choreographer Bob Fosse died while walking down a Washington street with his wife Gwen Verdon. He was 60.
