Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, turns 42 today, while Irish actor Chris O’Dowd, from the film Bridesmaids, turns 38. American musician Jackson Browne turns 69 today.

Christopher Reeve, star of the first Superman films, died on this day in 2004, aged 52, after heart failure.

On the theatre scene, the show Dude, the Gerome Ragni and Galt MacDermot follow-up to their hit Hair, opened on Broadway on this day in 1972. A huge flop, it ran for just 16 performances.
