Actor Henry Winkler (The Fonz in American TV’s old favourite, Happy Days) turns 75 today while actress Nia Long turns 50 and Glee star Matthew Morrison (pictured) turns 42. French director Claude Lalouch turns 83 today.

It was on this day in 1938 that a radio broadcast of  the H G Wells sci-fi classic, The War of the Worlds, narrated by Orson Welles, reportedly caused some panic.

On the celeb wedding scene, actress Evan Rachel Wood, of TV’s Westworld, married former child star Jamie Bell, of Billy Elliot fame, in California on this on this day in 2012.
