British music star Sting (pictured) turns 71 today while Don McLean, of American Pie and Vincent fame, turns 77 and actress Lorraine Bracca, of TV’s The Sopranos, turns 68.

Singer Tiffany – remember her I Think We’re Alone Now hit as a teen in the 1980s? – turns 50 today.

The series Alfred Hitchcock Presents, hosted by director Alfred Hitchcock, premiered on American television on this day in 1955. Also on this day, in 1957, the film Bridge Over the River Kwai, directed by David Lean, was released. It went on to take the Best Picture Oscar the following year.

On this day in 1970, Chris Andrews topped the South African singles chart with Brown Eyes. It stayed on top for two weeks. Just saying…
