It was on this day in 1951 that the classic I Love Lucy series, teaming Lucille Ball (pictured) and Desi Arnaz, debuted on US television. Also of interest is that Aussie Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett is reportedly likely to portray Ball in a film about the star’s life.

Singer-songwriter Eric Benet turns 53 today, while Sarah Ferguson turns 60 and Tito Jackson, of The Jacksons, turns 66. English actor Dominic West turns 50 today.

This day in 2016 saw former Glee actress Dianna Agron, aged 30, marry 27-year-old Winston Marshall, the banjo-player in Mumford and Sons. They tied the knot in Morocco.

Also married on this day in 2016 were The Flash actor Robbie Amell, 28, and actress Italia Ricci, 29. They married in Los Angeles.

At the top of the UK singles chart on this day in 2010 was Written in the Stars by Tinie Tempah. It spent one week at No 1. Just saying…
