On this day in 2002, Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage (pictured), then aged 39, divorced Lisa Marie Presley, then 34. He and the daughter of Elvis Presley were married only three months.

Actress Christina Applegate turns 51 today while actor Dougray Scott turns 57. Today is also the birthday of singer Percy Sledge, who died in 2015, aged 73.

The Christmas song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer appeared on the charts for the first time on this day in 1949, while on the same day in 1953, the musical Guys and Dolls closed on Broadway after 1 200 performances.

Disney released the soundtrack album for Frozen on this day in 2013. It went on to become the Billboard Album of the year in 2014 and took a Grammy Award in 2015 for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

The Stevie Wonder hit, I Just Called to Say I Love You, was at the top of the South African singles chart on this day in 1984. The song spent nine weeks in the top spot. Just saying…
