Actress Jamie Lee Curtis (pictured) turns 64 today, while actress Scarlett Johansson turns 38 and actor Mark Ruffalo turns 55. Film director and former Monty Python team member Terry Gilliam turns 82 today.

Michael Hutchence, former lead singer with Aussie rock band INXS, died on this day in 1997, aged 37. Sexy screen legend Mae West also died on this day, in 1980.

It was on this day in 1967 that the BBC unofficially banned The Beatles song, I Am a Walrus. Wikipedia elaborates by stating that this was due to the use of the word “knickers”  in the line “You’ve been a naughty girl, you’ve let your knickers down”.

This day in 1995 marked the release of Toy Story, the first fully digitally crafted animated feature.

In 2003, on this day, actress Carmen Elektra married rocker Dave Navarro in Los Angeles.

The Carl Douglas hit, Kung Fu Fighting, rose to the top of the South African singles chart on this day in 1974. The song spent seven weeks in the top spot. Just saying…
