This day in 1995 marked the release of the 17th 007 movie, GoldenEye, with Pierce Brosnan as the suave James Bond, while on this day in 1997, The Lion King stage musical opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City.

Dancer-actress Ginger Rogers married on this day in 1934. She tied the knot with Lew Ayres, seen in the movie all Quiet on the Western Front.

American singer-songwriter Leon Russell died on this day in 2016, aged 74.

The Eddie Grant hit, I Don’t Wanna Dance, rose to the top of the UK singles chart on this day in 1986. The song spent three  weeks in the top spot. Just saying.
