Also of note is that on this day in 2010, Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, then 38, wed rapper Mario Treadway, then 32, in Los Angeles

Oscar-winning actor Laurence Olivier, who died in 1989, was born on this day in 1907. Model Naomi Campbell (pictured) turns 47 today, while singer-songwriter Morrisey, former frontman with The Smiths, turns 58.

The lyricist for many songs by Elton John, talented Bernie Taupin, turns 67 today, French singer Charles Aznavour turns 93, and British model and TV reality star Katie Price turns 39.

On the chart scene, The Beatles hit No 1 in the UK on this day in 1965, with Ticket to Rude, while Chris Andrews rose to the top of the South African singles chart on this day in 1970 with Carol Ok. It enjoyed two week in the top spot.  Just saying…
