This Day in Showbiz History… May 12

ON THIS DAY IN 2022:

A 27-year-old Elizabeth Taylor (pictured) married for the fourth time on this day in 1959. The Oscar-winning actress’s husband was entertainer Eddie Fisher, then 30.

This day also marks the nuptials of rocker Mick Jagger and actress-model Bianca Perez-Mora Macias, who tied the knot in 1971, in France.

On this day in 1967 the thriller Blow Up, starring David Hemmings, took the grand prize at the 20th Cannes Film Festival.

Katharine Hepburn, who holds the record for the most Oscar wins by an actress, was born on this day in 1907. She died in 2003.

Actor Ving Rhames turns 63 today, British comedienne Catherine Tate turns 64, Jason Biggs (of the American Pie movies) turns 44 and composer Burt Bacharach turns 94. Emilio Estevez turns 60 and Steve Winwood turns 74. Actor Gabriel Byrne turns 72.

Topping the UK singles chart on this day in 1990 was Killer by Adamski featuring a then-unknown Seal on lead vocals. It spent four consecutive weeks at No 1. Just saying…
