Bono of U2 turns 57 today, singer Donovan turns 71 and Jamaican-born singer Carl Douglas (remember Kung Fu Fighting?) turns 75. Also celebrating birthdays today is French DJ Bob Sinclar  (of Love Generation fame), who turns 48.

Crowning the South African Springbok Radio singles chart on this day in 1987 was All I Ask of You by Cliff Richard and Sarah Brightman. The song, from the musical Phantom of the Opera, spent three weeks at No 1. Just saying…
