Celebrity birthdays today? Christopher Walken (pictured) turns 74, Ewan McGregor turns 46 and AC/DC guitarist Angus Young turns 62.

Actor William Daniels, perhaps best known as the voice of the car, Kitt, in TV’s Knight Rider, turns 90 today, while musician Herb Alpert celebrates his 82nd birthday.

It was on this day in 1943 that the Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II musical, Oklahoma! (originally titled Away We Go), made its Broadway debut, going on to enjoy 2  212performances. The cast included Celeste Holm, Alfred Drake and Joan Roberts.

Still on Broadway, it was on this day in 2016 that a revival of the 1953 Arthur Miller play, The Crucible, debuted, starring Ben Whishaw, Ciaran Hinds and Saoirse Ronan

The Village People film Can’t Stop the Music, also starring Bruce Jenner, won the Golden Raspberry for worst film of the year on this day in 1981.  And on the same day, in the same year, Ordinary People, directed by Robert Redford, took the Oscar for best picture.

On this day in 1978, Mull of Kintyre by Wings was in the second of its five weeks topping the Springbok Radio chart. Just saying…
