Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker turns 52 today, Starsky & Hutch actor Paul Michael Glaser turn 74 and Marcia Cross (who played redhead Bree in Desperate Housewives) turns 55.

From Here to Eternity took the Best Picture statuette at the 26th Oscars ceremony, held on this day in 1954, while on this day in 1974, Barbra Streisand recorded her Butterfly album.

Also of note is that this day in 1982 marked the first US broadcast of the popular crime series, Cagney and Lacey.

Jennifer Aniston filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on this day in 2005, citing irreconcilable differences. The stars had been wed for four-and-a-half years.
