This Day in Showbiz History… June 30

ON THIS DAY IN 2022:

It was on this day in 2008 that singer-actress Olivia Newton-John (pictured), then 59, wed businessman John Easterling, three years her junior, in Florida. And on this day in 1951, The Victor Borge Show had its final airing on America’s NBC network.

Actor Vincent D’Onofrio turns 63 today while British singer Cheryl Cole turns 39 and former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino turns 38. Actress Monica Potter turns 51, actor Rupert Graves turns 59 and boxer Mike Tyson turns 56.

Playbill reports that on this day in 1999, Naked Boys Singing!, a musical revue conceived and directed by Robert Schrock, began performances at The Actors’ Playhouse Off-Broadway. The show, which celebrates nudity in sketches and songs written by various writers, actually started in Los Angeles.

The Hollies rose to the top of the South African singles chart on this day in 1972 with their third No 1 hit, Long Cool Woman. It spent one week topping the chart. Just saying…
