This Day in Showbiz History… June 10

ON THIS DAY IN 2022:

US country singer Faith Evans turns 49 today, while Britain’s Prince Philip, who died in 2021, would have turned 101 today. Actress Elizabeth Hurley (pictured) turns 57 and actress Gina Gershon turns 60.

On the TV scene, the hit Taxi has its last episode shown on America’s ABC network on this day in 1982, while the Tales from the Crypt TV anthology debuted on the HBO network on this day in 1989.

Also of note is that on this day in 1991, the David Lynch-directed, original Twin Peaks aired its final episode on the ABC network. And another hit series that came to an end on this day, in 2007, was The Sopranos.

This day in 1966 marked two notable music events – the UK release of Paperback Writer by The Beatles and the first concert, in San Francisco, by Janis Joplin.

On this day in 1967, the Procol Harum classic, A Whiter Shade of Pale, was topping the UK singles chart, where it enjoyed a six-week run. Just saying…
