Actress Jane Lynch (pictured), who played nasty Sue Sylvester in TV’s Glee, turns 62 today, while actor Harry Dean Stanton, who died in 2017, would have turned 96 today. Actor Matthew Fox, star of TV’s Lost and Party of Five, turns 56 today and Durban radio presenter Jane Linley Thomas turns 43.

The Who began a US tour, opening for Herman’s Hermits, on this day in 1967, while the first colour TV broadcast of a sporting event (a horse race) was shown by America’s CBS network television on this day in 1951.

A Eurovision Song Contest winner, Come What May by Vicky Leandros, topped the South African singles chart on this day in 1972, staying there for four weeks. Just saying…
