Former Durban Theatre Personality of the Year Award-winner, popular singer-actress Marion Loudon (pictured), celebrates her birthday today, along with actress Drew Barrymore (48), singer James Blunt (49) and actress Julie Walters (73). Kyle MacLachlan (of TV’s Twin Peaks fame) turns 63 today.

On the theatre scene, Lady Windermere’s Fan by Oscar Wilde had its world premiere on this day in 1892 at the St James Theatre in London, while The Beatles started their own music publishing company (Northern Songs) on this day in 1963.

The song topping the South African Springbok Radio chart this week in 1985 was One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head, from the musical Chess, written by the men from Abba. It spent six weeks at No 1. Just saying…
