Would you believe that Stockard Channing (pictured), who played flirty Rizzo in the film Grease, turns 74 today? She was 35 when she played teen Rizzo on screen.

Singer Robbie Williams turns 44 today while actress Kim Novak turns 85, TV host Jerry Springer turns 74, actor George Segal turns 84, actress Mena Suvari turns 39 and Prince Jackson (son of Michael Jackson) turns 21.

On this day in 1996, the rock musical Rent opened Off-Broadway and later transferred to Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre. There it garnered Tony Awards for best musical, best book and best score. It was also awarded the year’s Pulitzer Prize for drama.

The song topping the South African Springbok Radio chart this week in 1971 was Knock Three Times by Tony Orlando and Dawn which spent six weeks at No 1. Just saying…
