ON THIS DAY IN 2022:

The third James Bond film, Goldfinger, teaming Sean Connery (pictured) and Honor Blackman, had its premiere in London on this day in 1964, and it was also on this day, in 1975, that actress Milla Jovovich was born.

Also of note is that this day in 1988 saw the premiere in the US of the longest running sitcom, The Simpsons.

On the theatre scene, this day in 1980 marked the Broadway opening night of the Peter Shaffer hit of  Amadeus, with Tim Curry as Mozart and Ian McKellen as Salieri. It opened at the Broadhurst Theatre and enjoyed 1 181 performances there. The 1984 film version won eight Oscars, including Best Picture.
