She was 13 when, on this day in 1955, Barbra Streisand (pictured) made her first recording, a private recording of You’ll Never Know. Also, this day in 1965 saw the premiere in Tokyo of the fourth 007 movie, Thunderball, starring Sean Connery and Claudine Auger.

Actress Mary Tyler Moore – who died on January 25, 2017 would have turned 84 today, while singer-actress Yvonne Elliman (of If I Cant Have You fame) turns 69, Ted Danson turns 73, singer Marianne Faithful turns 74 and Oscar-winner Jon Voight (father of Angelina Jolie) turns 82.

On the classical music scene, it is reported that on this day in 1812, Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No 10 in G major, Opus 96 was performed for the first time.

Buccaneer, by South African band McCully Workshop, spent the first of two weeks topping South Africa’s Springbok Radio chart this week in 1977. Just saying…
