Actress Michelle Pfeiffer (pictured), star of Scarface, Hairspray and Grease 2, among other hits, turns 64 today, while Jerry Seinfeld blows out 68 birthday candles and Uma Thurman turns 52.

Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis celebrates his 65th birthday today, while this day in 1980 marked the death, aged 80, of acclaimed British film director Alfred Hitchcock, who gave us such successes as Psycho and Vertigo.

British actor Bob Hoskins died of pneumonia, aged 71, on this day in 2014. He was an Oscar-nominee for Mona Lisa and was also in Mermaids, Nixon, The Long Good Friday and Who Framed Roger Rabbit

On this day in 1977, Don’t Cry For Me Argentina  by Julie Covington  hit the top of the South African Springbok Radio singles chart, where it remained for seven weeks. Just saying…
