Award-winning Durban actress Charon Williams-Ros (pictured),  star of the current sell-out Durban KickstArt musical, Chicago, and soon to emigrate to the UK, turns 58 today.

Actor Jet Li turns 54 today, while the star of TV’s Superman, Tom Welling, turns 40 and actor-dancer Channing Tatum turns 37. Movie funnyman Kevin James turns 52 and musician Giorgio Moroder turns 77.

On this day in 1992, the TV series, Growing Pains, had its final episode televised on US channel, ABC. Also on this day, in 1986, actor-bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger wed newscaster Maria Shriver.

This day in 1970 marked the Broadway opening of Company, a musical by Stephen Sondheim, starring Elaine Stritch. It ran for 705 performances and, nominated for 14 Tony Awards, took six, including that for best musical.

On this day in 1988, I’m in the Mood For Dancing, by The Nolans, hit the top of the South African Springbok Radio singles chart, where it remained for one week. Just saying…
