Award-winning Durban actress Charon Williams-Ros (pictured),  star of Durban stage hits including Sweeney Todd, The Ladykillers and Chicago, now relocated to London, turns 59 today.

Actor Jet Li turns 55 today, while the star of TV’s Superman, Tom Welling, turns 41 and actor-dancer Channing Tatum turns 38. Movie funnyman Kevin James turns 53 and musician Giorgio Moroder turns 78.

On this day in 1992, the TV series, Growing Pains, had its final episode televised on US channel, ABC. Also on this day, in 1986, actor-bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger wed newscaster Maria Shriver.

This day in 1970 marked the Broadway opening of Company, a musical by Stephen Sondheim, starring Elaine Stritch. It ran for 705 performances and, nominated for 14 Tony Awards, took six, including that for best musical.
