Award-winning former Durban actress Charon Williams-Ros (pictured),  star of stage hits including Sweeney Todd, The Ladykillers and Chicago, and now relocated to London, turns 63 today.

Actor Jet Li turns 59 today, while the star of TV’s Superman, Tom Welling, turns 45 and actor-dancer Channing Tatum turns 42. Movie funnyman Kevin James turns 57 and musician Giorgio Moroder turns 82.

On this day in 1992, the TV series, Growing Pains, had its final episode televised on US channel, ABC. Also on this day, in 1986, actor-bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger wed newscaster Maria Shriver.

This day in 1970 marked the Broadway opening of Company, a musical by Stephen Sondheim, starring Elaine Stritch. It ran for 705 performances and, nominated for 14 Tony Awards, took six, including that for best musical.
