Canadian crooner Michael Buble (pictured) turns 51 today, while comic actor Adam Sandler turns 61 and Indian actor Akshay Kumar turns 59.

Actor Hugh Grant turns 66, Rachel Hunter turns 57, The Greatest Showman star Michelle Williams turns 46 and Dave Stewart, formerly of hit duo Eurythmics, turns 74 today.

On this day in 2024, US actor James Earl Jones died, aged 93. Born in Mississippi on January 17, 1931, he was one of the few performers to achieve the Egot (win an Emmy, Grammy, Tony and Oscar) and is perhaps best known as the voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars films, and as the voice of Mufasa, Simba’s father, in The Lion King animated film.

On this day in 2022, the Robbie Williams album, XXV, a compilation of refreshed hits, became his 14th number-one album on the UK Albums Chart, surpassing Elvis Presley as the solo act with the most UK number-one albums. The album also topped the charts in Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands, while also reaching the top five in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland.

On this day in 2015, actor Ryan Reynolds, then 35, tied the knot with Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively, then 25, in South Carolina. Also, this day in 1979, marked the wedding of Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) to Fouzia Ali.

Elvis Presley appeared on TV’s Ed Sullivan Show for the first time on this day in 1956, while on this day in 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono appeared on The Dick Cavett Show in the US.
