ON THIS DAY IN 2025:

It was on this day in 1951 that the classic I Love Lucy series, teaming Lucille Ball (pictured) and Desi Arnaz, debuted on US television.

Turning 79 today is Richard Carpenter of the Carpenters duo, which featured the late, great, Karen Carpenter, who was three-and-a-half years Richard’s junior.

This day in 2016 saw former Glee actress Dianna Agron, then aged 30, marry 27-year-old Winston Marshall, the banjo-player in Mumford and Sons. They tied the knot in Morocco. Also married on this day in 2016 were The Flash actor Robbie Amell, then 28, and actress Italia Ricci, then 29. They married in Los Angeles.

At the top of the UK singles chart on this day in 2010 was Written in the Stars by Tinie Tempah. It spent one week at No 1. Just saying…
