On this day in 1969, Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman (pictured), then 31, married actress Anne Byrne, six years his junior, while on this day in 1962 Oscar-winner Christopher Plummer, then 32, married columnist Patricia Lewis in London.

Actress-singer Pia Zadora turns 70 today, while former N’Sync member Lance Bass turns 46, and actor Richard Jenkins turns 78.

The first Grammy Awards were held on this day in 1959. The Album of the Year award went to The Music from Peter Gunn by Henry Mancini, while Stan Freberg, Ella Fitzgerald and Perry Como also took awards.

On this day in 2024, a 65-year-old Madonna ended her seven-month ‘Celebration Tour’ with a free concert of her greatest hits on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Attended by an estimated 1,6million people, it is the biggest concert attendance of her impressive career.

Topping South Africa’s Springbok Radio single chart on this day in 1973 was I Can’t Keep It In by Cat Stevens. It spent five weeks crowning the chart. Just saying…
