Had he not died, aged 53, on Christmas Day in 2016, British singer George Michael (pictured) would have turned 62 today. Actress Karisma Kapoor turns 51 today and Carly Simon (of You’re So Vain and Let the River Run fame) turns 80.
Also celebrating birthdays today are British actor-comic Ricky Gervais (64) and singer Eddie Floyd (88). Hit US singer Benson Boone, who was born in Monroe, Washington, turns 24 today.
Today marks the day superstar Michael Jackson died, aged 50, in 2009 – which is also the day Charlie’s Angels beauty, Farrah Fawcett, died.
Patrick Macnee of TV’s The New Avengers, also died on this day, in 2015, aged 93.
The Elton John ballad, Sacrifice, was topping the UK singles chart on this day in 2009. It spent five weeks crowning the chart. It marked his first UK No 1 after 51 hits since 1971 and six chart-toppers in America. Just saying…
