American jazz and pop singer Tony Bennett (born on August 3, 1926) died on this day in 2023, aged 96. He had sold more than 50 million records worldwide and had won 20 Grammy Awards and two Emmy Awards.

On this day in 1990 hit band Pink Floyd performed the classic The Wall where the Berlin Wall once stood.

On this day in 1942, actress Mae West divorced vaudeville performer Frank Wallace after being married to him for 31 years.
