ON THIS DAY IN 2026:

Singer Francoise Hardy would have turned 82 today, while British singer Paul Young celebrates his 70th birthday. Actress Zoey Deschanel turns 46, Jim Carrey turns 64 and Kid Rock turns 55. Chart-topper Calvin Harris turns 42 and Susannah Hoff, formerly of hit group Bangles, turns 67.
Also on this day, in 2004, Tony Award-nominated producer Ray Stark, 88, died of a heart attack. Stark brought the musical Funny Girl to Broadway, and later to the big screen (his mother-in-law was Fanny Brice).
The Anton Chekhov classic, Cherry Orchard, opened at the Moscow Art Theatre on this day in 1904, and also on this day, in 1982, Bucks Fizz was topping the UK singles chart with Land of Make Believe. It enjoyed two weeks at No 1. Just saying…
