HAVING recently hopped on to the bandwagon and opted for a healthier, quicker cooking option with the investment of an air fryer, the publication of The South African Air Fryer Cookbook by Louisa Holst, could not have come at a better time.

Published by Human & Rousseau, this large-format, 128-page softcover, sells for about R320 and offers a wide range of recipes.

Good news is that SoSuterBill is offering a prize copy of this must-have, new cook book. For competition entry details see the end of this post.

The South African Air Fryer Cookbook contains some great local favourites that include bobotie, apricot snoek with sweet potato, curry mince pies, cream cheese and biltong spring rolls, boerewors (and also ostrich frikkadels) with chakalaka, paptert, garlic butter prawns, milk tart and malva pudding.

There are also basic, easy recipes which prove ideal for an air fryer novice – such as potato cakes, sticky pork rashers, toasted sandwiches, peanut chicken and noodles, roasted sweet potato slices and bacon-wrapped meatloaf.

The book also offers preparation times, cooking times and air-frying temperatures. There are helpful tips and tricks for any size or brand of air fryer.

Also featured is a guide to essential accessories to use in your air fryer, and also a handy cooking timetable.

Author Louisa Holst has been a food consultant, recipe developer and food editor for more than 20 years. She is passionate about food and loves to cook, discover new flavours and create delicious, easy-to-cook, family-friendly recipes. This is her second book.
