DURBAN theatre fans have some very good news – a fun new KickstArt romantic comedy teaming some of the city’s top performers is scheduled for eight performances in the Musgrave area, including morning shows and matinees.
The show is A R Gurney’s Sylvia, a new KickstArt production about a man and his dog, starring award-winning actors Bryan Hiles, Liesl Coppin, Cara Roberts, Greg King and Peter Court. Kign and Court also co-designed and co-directed the production.
It will be presented at Durban’s cosy and freshly refurbished Seabrooke’s Theatre at Durban High School, from Fridays to Sundays, October 23 to November 1.
The play centres on Hiles as Greg, a man on the brink of a mid-life crisis. Then he finds, and falls head-over-heels in love with an adorable stray mutt named Sylvia. But Greg’s wife, Kate (Liesl Coppin), is not happy. You see, Sylvia is no ordinary dog. And she’s about to chew a hole in a 20-year-old marriage.

Sylvia features costumes by Court and lighting by Michael Broderick. It will be staged at 7pm on Fridays, 2.30pm on Saturdays, and 11am and 3pm on Sundays. Admission is R150 a head. Booking is now open at Computicket.
