FILMS NEW ON CIRCUIT IN DURBAN AND SURROUNDS – FROM MARCH 7

LUCIAN FREUD: A SELF PORTRAIT
Director: David Bickerstaff

An 80-minute film showcasing an exhibition by the Royal Academy of Arts in London, in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, highlighting Lucian Freud’s self-portraits. On dispay were more than 50 paintings, prints and drawings in which this modern master of British art turned his unflinching eye firmly on himself. Spanning nearly seven decades his self-portraits give a fascinating insight into both his psyche and his development as a painter, from his earliest portrait painted in 1939 to the final one executed 64 years later. Screenings at selected Cinema Nouveau theatres are scheduled for 5.30pm on Saturday, 2.45pm on Sunday, 12.30pm on Wednesday and 2.45pm on Thursday.
