All the Golden Globe winners

STREAMING services were big winners at last night’s 77th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, Showmax series taking five of the 11 awards in the TV category.

Prime Video took the award for Best Comedy (Fleabag) and Best Musical or Comedy Actress (Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge), Netflix won Best Drama Actress (The Crown’s Olivia Colman) and The Act on DStv took Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette.

Taron Egerton took a Golden Globe for playing Elton John in Rocketman.

Of the five movies nominated for Best Drama in the films category, three were Netflix productions –The Two Popes, The Immigrant and Marriage Story – although the top award went to 1917. The other film nominated was Joker, which took the Best Actor in a Drama award for the performance of Joaquin Phoenix.  Renee Zellweger, as Judy Garland in Judy, took the award for Best Actress in a Drama.

Hosted by British comic Ricky Garvais, whose opening monologue took swift swipes at Hollywood and stars, the awards are listed here in full (with award recipients shown first and in bold):
