AUSTRALIAN-BORN piano man Steven Michael will salute the music and memories of singer, pianist and songwriter Billy Joel in a new show headed for the large, kraal-shaped iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino, near Umhlanga, from April 18 to 28

Even better news is that SoSuterBill and Showtime Australia have five double tickets to give away to the show’s opening performance at 8pm on Thursday, April 18.  Tickets cannot be exchanged for another performance. See the end of this story for entry details.

Piano Man: The Billy Joel Show is the title of the show produced by Showtime Australia, the company that brought to Durban Whitney Houston: The Greatest Love of All (starring Port Elizabeth-born Belinda Davids), The Michael Jackson History Show (with Kimberley-born Dantanio Goodman) and Beatlemania On Tour, a new tribute experience that is set to make its international touring debut in South Africa soon.

Set to premiere at Sibaya Casino, Piano Man: The Billy Joel Show has Steven Michael bringing to life the highlights of Joel’s career live on piano, guitar and vocals, bolstered by a tight band, iconic saxophone solos and rich backing vocals.

As one of the most consummate songwriters, storytellers and most-loved musicians in popular music, Billy Joel’s work has infiltrated the lives of generations and played soundtrack to our most memorable moments

His many hits include Piano Man, Just the Way You Are, My Life, Always a Woman, Honesty, An Innocent Man, The Entertainer, Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, Uptown Girl, Tell Her About It, The Longest Time, Say Goodbye to Hollywood and It’s Still Rock & Roll To Me.

For Steven Michael, performing in Durban this Easter month will be the first visit to this country by the performer, who been playing piano professionally since the age of 13.

“Kicking off this touring show in South Africa will be such a thrilling experience and I can’t wait to ‘hit the keys’ for you guys,” he says.
