BACK by popular demand, Durban-based Elvis Presley tribute artist, Doug Weich, marks his seventh consecutive year at the Rhumbelow Theatre in CunninghamRoad, Umbilo, with his colourful new show, Viva Las Vegas.
And good news is that you and seven pals could be sharing a table, at no cost, at the opening performance at 8pm on Friday, August 3 – as that’s the prize being offered by SoSuterBill. See the end of this story for entry details.
Weich will present Viva Las Vegas at 8pm on Friday and Saturday and also at 2pm on Sunday, August 3 to 5 – and again at the same venue and times from August 10 to 12.
The production will also feature Wade Wight on keyboards and backing vocals, Evan Cullum on piano and backing vocals, Glen Turrell on bass, Alec Mackay on drums, David Knott on lead guitar, Kirsty van der Linde on saxophone and Claire Rowlett and Sandi da Cunha on vocals.
“The show gives us a glimpse of what it was like to watch the King of Rock ’n’ Roll in Las Vegas when he made his return to live performances with his iconic gem-studded jumpsuits, starting from his debut in 1969 up until his last performance in 1977,” says a spokesman.
“Viva Las Vegas, A Rocktainment production, is a show with all the glitz and glamour, and is packed with timeless hits of yesteryear that will keep the audience thoroughly entertained for the full 90-minute performance.”
“Come and join us for another exhilarating show at the Rhumbelow Theatre as we pay tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time, and commemorate 41 years of the passing of Elvis Presley.”
This show features such classics as Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, Jailhouse Rock, It’s Now Or Never, Fever, Heartbreak Hotel, Johnny B Goode and Suspicious Minds, to name a few.
