BOOKING opens today – Friday, June 29 – at for the colourful Big Top Rock, the first show at the new Barnyard Theatre opening on December 12 in the newly renovated area of Durban’s Suncoast Casino, overlooking the beachfront promenade.

This will be the third Barnyard Theatre to open at a Tsogo Sun Entertainment destination, following the opening of Silverstar and Gold Reef City Barnyard Theatres.

The Suncoast Barnyard will be under new management and will fall within the same ownership umbrella as the rest of the venues currently in the Barnyard Group (not franchised).

Big Top Rock has been described as the ultimate rock ’n’ roll circus show, a fusion of live rock music and acrobatic acts.

Tickets will cost R165 each, but there will be a buy-one-and-get-one-free special for the 7.30pm Tuesday performances. For shows at 7.30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, tickets will cost R165.

Sunday matinees, at 2pm, will see tickets sell for R130 each, but half price for pensioners. On Sundays, under-12s will get in free (two children per paying , full-price adult).

“Durbanites can look forward to an excellent show experience and the same wooden interior and casual seating-style that creates the distinct ambiance, unique to the Barnyard Theatre,” says a spokesman.

The plan is for the venue to offer a regular show line-up, including new Barnyard productions, local bands and comedians.

Also scheduled for December at the Suncoast Barnyard is a show aimed at children and teens. Titled Shut Up & Dance, and presented by Kidz Rock, it is a production that pays tribute to the greatest dance hits, and features a band with three dancers and three singers.

The show will feature music by Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor, DNCE, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, OMI and other popular acts.

Selected 2pm Saturday shows are scheduled from December 15 to  January 12, when admission will be R190 a head.

The new Barnyard Theatre Suncoast will include an in-house catering division with pizzas, snack baskets, platters, buffet options and more for sale to patrons attending shows.

The Barnyard Theatres are also available for birthday parties, fundraising events, corporate functions, client entertainment, day conferencing and more.
