Johannesburg band The Muffinz visits Durban on Saturday and Sunday as part of a national tour.

BILLY SUTER with his weekly gig guide. Gigs in and around Durban include performances by hit band The Muffinz and a great tribute to Johnny Cash ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

WORTH noting on the Midlands music scene is that the fortnightly Music in the Hills (MiTH) event in a former barn at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm, Knoll Road, Hilton, has a good line-up on Wednesday, June 20.

Kicking off the entertainment at 7pm will be MiTH founder Charles Webster, with family and friends, performing jazz standards, pop and rock covers.

Former Idols contestant, singer-guitarist Erin Fourie, performs from 8pm, alongside Daniel Rossouw, a guitarist and vocalist who is a regular part of the dynamic Pan Latino line-up.

Former Idols contestant, singer-guitarist Erin Fourie and Pan Latino’s Daniel Rossouw… Hilton date.

The MiTH headliner act, at 9pm, will be singer-songwriter and pianist Nosihe Zulu, who was born and raised in Pietermaritzburg, and finished in eighth place in season six of Idols in 2016. She is now based in Durban, to further her second degree in Jazz Voice Performance at UKZN.

Nosihe grew up in an active church community that gave her many platforms to share her gift of singing at various functions and church events. She soon realised that she not only enjoyed singing, but also relished performing and entertaining too. Her musical range includes pop, jazz, R&B and soul.

Held every second Wednesday, MiTH is a semi-open-mic music club, an opportunity for musicians to share the joy of music with a friendly audience which includes fellow musicians – who have all “been there” too. Non-musicians are welcome too.

Take your own booze. Food and soft drinks are available for sale.

By the way, musicians who are keen to perform at MiTH should phone Charles Webster (082 331 7271) or Doug Borain (072 340 7034) for more details.
