New format for ‘The Voice’

GOOD news if you have been enjoying The Voice UK … ITV in the UK has confirmed that the talent contest will return in 2019  and will have some format changes.

The series is currently being shown for the first time in South Africa on DStv’s ITV Choice (channel 123), at 6pm on Sundays. It will return for an eighth season in Britain next year, then later in South Africa.

A spokesman for the reality series has announced that a format change will allow for bigger groups to take part, as auditions will, in future, be opened to trios as well as solo artists and duos.

Says ITV Studios’ creative director Katie Rawcliffe: “We know there are many talented trios out there across the UK, and we want to offer them the chance to show off their vocal harmonies on The Voice UK stage.”

Meanwhile, in the current series of The Voice UK, the show has now enters the ‘Knockout’ round, where coaches team up with their mentors. Olly Murs is joined by Craig David, Will I Am by the Black Eyed Peas, Leona Lewis and last year’s winner Mo Jamil with Jennifer Hudson, and Kylie Minogue with Sir Tom Jones.

Says ITV Choice channel director Katherine Wen: “It’’s going to be tense, it’s going to be nerve-wracking, but most of all it’s going to be hugely entertaining.”
