More SA shows for Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig and friends will soon be on stage in a national tour of South Africa, Durban performances are at the Playhouse Opera from April 20 to 22.


PUBLIC demand for a touring stage production featuring characters from the popular pre-school TV show Peppa Pig, is such that performances have now been added for Pretoria. Durban dates at the Playhouse Opera are also confirmed.

The tour organisers have secured two performances at Pretoria’s State Theatre on Youth Day, Saturday, June 16, and on Sunday, June 17.  Tickets are on sale at Computicket.

The first nationwide stage show tour for Peppa and friends, Peppa Pig Live in South Africa has only day-time shows. It opens at Johannesburg’s Emperor’s Palace on March 29 and runs there until April 2.

The show then moves to Cape Town’s International Convention Centre from April 6 to 8, before heading for The Playhouse in Durban from April 20 to 22, when performances will be at 10am and 12.30pm.

In addition to Pretoria, the second leg of the tour also includes stopovers in Port Elizabeth – at the Opera House on June 23 and 24.

Peppa Pig Live in South Africa has been described as an action-packed, rollicking stage show based on the award-winning television series that is broadcast locally on and DStv.

The show is especially designed to give young fans an unforgettable first live theatre experience.

“A fully immersive musical production featuring a dozen familiar and original songs, as well as an interactive sing-a-long, the stage show will have fans laughing, cheering and dancing – just like Peppa,” says a tour spokesman.

Since its first broadcast in May 2004, the Peppa Pig animated television series captivated the five-years-and-under age group to become a global phenomenon, broadcast in some 180 territories.

Moving from the small screen to the stage, Peppa Pig Live in South Africa brings Peppa, George, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and Peppa’s many friends to life in an adventure filled with buckets of surprises and plenty of muddy puddles.
