DURBAN’S Rhumbelow Theatre franchise kicks into action again this week with a performance by Irish-born Dave Monks at the theatre’s branch at Tina’s Hotel, 14 Beryldene Road, Kloof.

Monks is presenting his popular The Great British Pub Night at 8pm on Friday and Saturday (January 19 and 20)  and 2pm on Sunday (January 21). The venue opens 90 minutes before the show and tickets cost R150 (call 082 499 8636  for bookings).

The Great British Pub Night features more than 50 snippets of the most popular sing-a-long and clap-along songs on the planet.

British old-time music hall is certainly covered in this show with evergreen hits such as Roll Out the Barrel, She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain, Happy Days Are Here Again, It’s a Long Way to Tipperary and Show Me the Way to Go Home.

Dave’s impressive repertoire of original arrangements of pop and party songs covers five decades of hits associated with the likes of Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, Roger Whittaker, Smokie and The Beatles.

BLUES pulls the focus at the free Soul Sunday Sessions event planned for the Northwood Crusaders Club, Durban North, from 1pm on Sunday, January 21.

Acts lined up to entertain include East Coast Basement Blues Band at 1.30pm, Bobby and The Dynamites at 3pm and The Mavericks and 4.30pm.
