NOW ON STAGE IN DURBAN AND SURROUNDS 

WOODSTOCK
(Rhumbelow Theatre, Cunningham Road, Umbilo)

The Reals band and guest vocalist Marion Loudon return with a revival of their hit show commemorating the 48th anniversary of the “three days of peace and music” celebration, ‘at which 32 acts performed to an audience of 400 000 young people. It took place from August The Reals band, with Marion Loudon as guest vocalist, perform at 8pm on Friday and Saturday (September 1 and 2) and 2.30pm and 6pm on Sunday (September 3). WISH YOU WERE HERE; A PINK FLOYD TRIBUTE
(Allan Wilson Shellhole, Pietermaritzburg)

Pink Floyd fans are in for a treat at 7.30pm on Friday, September 1 – Wish You Were Here: A Pink Floyd Tribute is being presented as supper theatre by a group of local musicians. Admission is R150 and booking is by phoning 081 755 9479  or 076 536 9658. Durban band Templar Funk is building a reputation for audacity. Nonetheless, in this case they’re calling in some distinguished friends to lend a hand. Templar Funk is a three-piece rock band, consisting of bassist Neil Ford and singer-guitarists Steven Squier and Ross Tapson. They form the core of the lineup that will be doing the show, their guests including Dulcie Erasmus on keyboards/vocals, Grant Hallidayon drums and Martin Sigamoney on saxophone. The show will explore aspects of the Pink Floyd repertoire that haven’t been extensively covered, even by Pink Floyd themselves, so fans can expect to hear well-loved classics that they may never have heard performed live before, says Ross. Tracks from the albums Wish You Were Here and Momentary Lapse of Reason are among highlights of the evening. (BS)

Performances at 8pm on Saturday, September 2, and 2pm and 6.30pm on Sunday, September 3. Featuring Kerry Cherry on vocals, the show will also feature guest vocalist Mark Stewey Gokool, pianist David Langley, bassist Logan Byrne, drummer Riley Giandhari, guitarist Nick Pitman and the Heather Groove brass section.The show pays tribute to the late, great , five-time Grammy-winning singer and song writer who, aged 19, recorded her debut album, Frank. The show will also display how Winehouse had influences over different artists, including Adele, Colbie Callait and Meghan Trainor.
