Lots of laughs for Durban

A FEAST of stand-up comedy is scheduled for Durban, starting off tomorrow (Friday, May 26) with Darren Maule hosting The Never Ending Comedy Tour at Suncoast Casino. Also in the pipeline are four shows by various comedians, performances organised by On Fire Comedy.

The Never Ending Comedy Tour will see East Coast Radio’s Maule joined by fellow comedians who have yet to be named. The evening’s fun, starting at 8pm, is for over-18s only. Tickets cost R100 at Computicket outlets.

In partnership with Savanna Premium Cider and East Coast Radio, On Fire Comedy’s planned series of concerts will feature Durban acts alongside rising stars Khanyisa Bunu and Lihle Msimang, both from Johannesburg.

Also in the line-up are Cape Town funnyman Stuart Cairns, and Long John Comedian, on tour from Zimbabwe.

These fine acts will be supported throughout the week by some of Durban’s best, among them Neville Pillay, Mo Vawda, Kwanda Radebe, Prev Reddy, Mfundo and Jem Atkins. In opening slots will be Matthew Armstrong and Byron Bowler.

The first comedy event will be at 8.30pm on Wednesday, May 31, at Amsterdam, 143 Helen Joseph Road, Glenwood. It will feature Stuart Cairns, Khanyisa Bunu, Lihle Msimang, Long John Comedian, Kwanda Radebe and Byron Bowler.

On Thursday, June 1, the laughs will be at the Riverside Hotel, 10 Kenneth Kaunda Road (Northway), Durban North. The fun starts at 8.30pm and the spotlight will be on Jem Atkins, Stuart Cairns, Khanyisa Bunu, Lihle Msimang, Long John Comedian and Mfundo.

On Friday, June 2, the place to be is a new comedy venue, the Royal Palm Hotel at 8 Palm Boulevard, Gateway, Umhlanga. Performers, from 8.30pm, will include Neville Pillay, Stuart Cairns, Khanyisa Bunu, Lihle Msimang, Jem Atkins and Matthew Armstrong.

Finally, be at Ballito’s Pumpkin Theatre at La Montagane, 100 Compensation Road, at 8.30pm on Saturday, June 3, to catch Mohammad Vawda, Prev Reddy, Stuart Cairns, Lihle Msimang, Long John Comedian and Jem Atkins.
