ROLAND Stansell, who organises the regular Monday evening Tennis & Tunes events at Durban’s Windsor Tennis Club, opposite Glenwood High School, has finalised the March lineup of artists for the venue.

Every Monday, from 4pm to 6pm, visitors are encouraged to pop along to the club to watch or play a friendly game of tennis, after which they are invited to stay and enjoy music, from 6pm to 9pm, performed by a different act each Monday.

Of course, the tennis is not compulsory, and you could just rock up for the tunes at 6pm, enjoying drinks from the club pub, where you can also grab reasonably  priced wors rolls, curry rolls or toasted sandwiches.

Admission to this very informal event is R50, inclusive of  the music and tennis (balls and racquets are available).

This coming Monday, February 20, the club will host a folk and blues trio – Richard Haslop, Mike Raftery and Will Wallace – who are teaming up for the first time to offer a wide range of roots music styles.

Next up, on February 27, the spotlight will be on popular Chloe Clark, a finalist on the first season of The Voice South Africa, who will be teaming for a mixed bag of tunes with Durban keyboardist Burton Naidoo.

Popular singer-guitarist Barry Thomson, of hit showband The Reals, will perform informally at the club on March 6, after which guitarist Rusty Red will perform on March 13, then Rene Tshiakanyi on March 20.

A duo, comprising singer-guitarists  Nux Schwartz and Jason Andrew (of The Reals), entertains on March 27.

No booking is required for Tennis & Tunes – simply rock up, pay up and enjoy!
