Bollywood films – and lots of luxury

Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’Cruz in a scene from Rustom, to be seen on DStv’s new Zee Bollymovies channel, launching on March 1.

GOOD news for fans of Indian movies: on 1 March, Zee Bollymovies, a 24-hour, English-dubbed Bollywood-movies-only channel, will launch on DStv’s channel 114.

Multichoice has announced that DStv Premium, Extra and Compact customers will get to experience “the pearl of Asia”, as they put it.

Customers are promised to be treated to epic, award-winning tales of the fragile human condition, among them Rustom, a film about a naval officer (Akshay Kumar) who goes on trial for the murder of his wife’s lover.

It is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, who won the statuette for Most Promising Debut Director at the recent Star Screen Awards in India.

“DStv already carries Zee World on channel 166, and its success – along with a growing appetite for all things Bollywood – has led to this launch. Zee Bollymovies is a channel geared specifically for South African tastes and we’re sure it will keep you entertained and enthralled,” says a DStv spokesman.
