FINE Durban blues guitarist Nick Pitman and classical guitar student Lyall Erasmus, along with singer-guitarist Gavin Ferguson, will entertain at the fun Beer and Bunny on the Bay event planned from 3pm on Saturday (January 28) at Durban’s Point Yacht Club.
The club is looking forward to this, the latest event in their 125th birthday celebrations, says publicist Sophie Thompson.
Coinciding with the annual pursuit race, the Bar Anniversary Cup, the afternoon’s festivities will take place on the newly revamped lawns outside the club as the sun sets. In the bay, sailors will be hard at work competing for the Bar Anniversary Cug, she explains.
“We are greatly looking forward to this event. The idea arose in a planning committee for our big year and it just sounded perfect for everything we are planning for our anniversary,” says commodore for the Point Yacht Club, Craig Millar.
“I believe it is an inviting way to welcome folk who are not part of the sailing fraternity to our club, and for them to enjoy our facilities for the afternoon.
“If curries and beers are not your thing, don’t worry as there will be other options available. It should be a wonderful late afternoon, relaxing on the lawns and soaking up the surroundings while listening to some live music.”
Master brewers will offer tasty brews to patrons, while you can picnic on the lawns digging into Durban’s famous food, a tasty and filling bunnychow. Confirmed breweries are family-run The Standeaven Brewery from Hillcrest, proud Durbanite craft brewery, Poison City and a few other options.
Admission is R60 and this allows you to sample your first beer.
