ANYONE who is a sucker for celebrity weddings and interesting holiday destinations should switch to SABC3 at 8pm today (January 5) and next Thursday (January 12) for episodes devoted to these topics.
Top Billing will be sharing the most magical weddings of 2016 in tonight’s episode, including a look back at former Miss World, Rolene Strauss, saying her “I do” to her prince charming, D’Niel Strauss. They tied the knot at Lourensford, the jewel of the Cape winelands.
“With true Cape Town flair, we also look back at a match made in theatre heaven with singer Bianca Le Grange and actor David Johnson – an intimate wedding just outside Stellenbosch,” says a spokesman for SABC3.
“We also transport you back to a fairytale forest in the Magaliesburg with actor Clint Brink and Namibian beauty queen Steffi van Wyk, at their rustic, intimate wedding.
“The show will also revisit a love story that was a match made in heaven on a misty day in the KZN Midlands, when Springbok rugby star Lwazi Mvovo married his long-time love, Stephanie.”
Also on the bill is a look back at the wedding of Sharks lock Ruan Botha, who was hitched to property agent Monene Viljoen just outside the Franschoek valley; and the wedding of Lions rugby star Franco Moster, who tied the knot with his high school sweetheart, Juan-Ri Grobler, in Gauteng.
“When actress Rolanda Marais and film director Jozua Malherbe got married in Elgin in the Western Cape, it was the unique venue that made us want to relive this wedding with true vintage flair,” adds the spokesman.
The show also plans to return to Stellenbosch to look again at a match made in heaven with Springbok flank Siya Kolisi and Rachel Smith, as they got married four years later at a place where their romance began.
As for the Top Billing travel special on January 12, that will focus on some of the best destinations the show visited during 2016.
The episode includes a return to a trip with Ravos Rail, an Edwardian luxury train, through some of South Africa’s most beautiful and unseen landscapes with presenter Jonathan.
Also on the cards is a look back at the island of Sicily in Italy, where viewers get to visit historic gardens and get lessons in pizza-making. Presenter Nico also experiences a South African food, wine and music fair and speaks to Nomatemba Tambo, the South African Ambassador to Italy.
The show will also revisit Mauritius, with cricketers Kagiso Radaba and JP Duminy along for the sightseeing and exploring of the white sands of The Dinarobin resort, with Top Billing presenter Christopher.
